Global Health Pathway for Residents and Fellows

Our Mission

To develop academic leaders in global health dedicated to reducing human suffering caused by health disparities. As a distinguished program that incorporates multiple departments, the Global Health Residency/Fellowship Pathway at Duke delivers tailored postgraduate training experiences integrating specialty-specific research opportunities, masters-level didactic training, and close mentorship to develop careers in global health.

“Duke has a phenomenal global health program and one of the main drawing points is really the mentorship that I have been receiving over the last couple of years. The faculty at the Global Health Institute are just amazing people and great teachers. They have really provided hands on training in both qualitative and quantitative research, which is exactly what I was looking for.”

“Duke’s Global Health Pathway is unique. I have been lucky to have some amazing mentors who have really invested a lot of time in me. I feel that I have learned so much and I feel that the fellowship is really well designed to get you on a path to become an independent global health researcher.”

“There are certain obstacles that you face in the field that you cannot simulate in the classroom. One of the things that I value about being in this setting is my interaction with my team. I think the knowledge sharing as gone both ways. I hope that I’ve taught them some skills and knowledge. At the same time, I’ve learned a lot from my team.”
