Dr. Hutton Chapman is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Chapman completed his pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Duke. During his time as a fellow, he was also a member of HYC’s Global Health Pathway and completed a Masters of Global Health in 2025. During his time as a pathway fellow, Hutton spent significant time in Mwanza, Tanzania, working and conducting research at Bugando Medical Centre (BMC). His primary research focus at BMC involved utilizing implementation science methodology to expand the capacity to treat pediatric Burkitt lymphoma and Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). His research as a fellow was supported by Duke’s Hematology T32 program as well as funding from DGHI’s Ralph Corey Legacy Award. Dr. Chapman continues to work in Tanzania alongside Dr. Kristin Schroeder, focused on developing generalizable means to improve pediatric cancer outcomes worldwide.

At Duke, Dr. Chapman cares for patients with a variety of malignant and non-malignant conditions. He also specializes in caring for childhood survivors of cancer (survivorship). Additionally, he has an active role in medical student and resident education within the division.

Dr. Chapman completed his undergraduate training at the University of Virginia. He completed his medical school training at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his pediatrics residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
