Summary
Emily Herfel is an Assistant Professor in the Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, an affiliate at the Duke Center for Global Reproductive Health, and a volunteer professor at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Moshi, Tanzania. She is a 2022 Global Health Pathway graduate. She earned her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed OBGYN residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. As a Duke Global Health Fellow, she looks forward to practicing as an OB/GYN generalist, working with the residents, and advancing women’s care through research. She conducted research focused on cervical cancer prevention, screening and treatment along with other women’s health topics in Kisumu County, Kenya under the mentorship of Dr. Megan Huchko.
