Dr. Anna Strasma graduated from the Global Health Pathway and earned her MSc-GH in 2023. She is currently a medical instructor in the Duke Department of Medicine.  While in the Pathway, she was a global health fellow in Duke’s Nephrology program.

She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Strasma has spent much of her life volunteering in Nicaragua and it was there she learned about CKDu (Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Etiology) as a medical student. She continued studying the disease in residency and completed a three-month Diploma of Tropical Medicine course that provided her training in infectious diseases, parasitology, microscopy and public health abroad. She plans to continue her research on CKDu while part of the GHP.
