Summary

Robert Rolfe is currently an infectious diseases specialist in the Duke Department of Medicine and a 2020 graduate of the Global Health Pathway. He earned a bachelor of science in chemistry and Spanish from the University of South Carolina. He then earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency in the Tinsley Harrison Internal medicine Residency Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During residency, he had the opportunity to complete the Gorgas Course in Tropical Medicine in Lima, Peru where he gained a deeper understanding of infections that affect people with the least access to health care. He is interested in tropical medicine, particularly vector-borne diseases and zoonoses. Robert’s research project is titled Engagement of at-risk and marginalized communities in vaccine trials through the new, NIH-funded COVID-19 Prevention Trials Network (COVPN).
