Global Health Infectious Diseases Fellow

Lana Abusalem, MD is currently a global health fellow in Duke’s Adult Infectious Disease fellowship program. She earned her medical degree from the University of Jordan and has worked at the King Hussein Cancer Center and the Center for Palliative and Cancer Care in Conflict before moving to the US for medical training. She completed her Internal Medicine residency then a Chief Resident year at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She will be enrolling in the Masters of Science in Global Health program as part of the pathway.

Her research interests include antimicrobial resistance, stewardship and the effects of climate change on gram negative bacterial resistance. Lana will be conducting mentored research under the guidance of Dr. Gayani Tillekeratne in Galle, Sri Lanka.
