Dr. Johanna Halfon completed the Duke Global Health Obstetrics & Gynecology Fellowship Program in 2016. Dr. Halfon completed Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia, and her MD at Yale. During medical school, she was awarded a Doris Duke International Fellowship to work in Accra, Ghana conducting research on the effect of placental malaria parasitemia on peripheral and placental HIV-1 RNA, concentration in HIV-positive pregnant women. As a Duke Global Health Fellow, Jana’s research focused on post-cesarean section peritonitis in Rwanda: factors associated with severe morbidity and mortality at transfer from district hospitals and during management at the referral hospital.
